Aluminium Scrap — All Grades

Aluminium scrap is one of the most energy-efficient recycling opportunities in metals — using up to 95% less energy than primary production. We supply all major grades to smelters, die casters, and rolling mills.

7 Aluminium Scrap Grades

Aluminium grades are classified by alloy series, form, and contamination level. 1xxx and 6xxx series extrusions are highest value; mixed shredded Zorba requires further sorting. Each grade suits different downstream processes.

Taint Tabor
Also known as: T/T Aluminium / Painted Aluminium
Al 96–99%

Taint Tabor is clean aluminium scrap that is either painted or lightly contaminated (tainted) or clean (tabor). It includes sheet aluminium from windows, doors, and automotive panels. The most commonly traded aluminium scrap grade internationally.

Typical Composition
Aluminium (Al) 97%
Paint / Coating 2%
Other Metals 1%

Aluminium Extrusion
Also known as: 6063 / 6061 Extrusion Scrap
Al 97–99%

Aluminium extrusion scrap comes from window frames, door frames, architectural sections, and heat sinks. It is typically 6000-series alloy (Al-Mg-Si), prized for its clean composition and consistent chemistry.

Typical Composition
Aluminium (Al) 98%
Magnesium (Mg) 0.7%
Silicon (Si) 0.6%

UBC — Used Beverage Cans
Also known as: Aluminium Can Scrap / Twitch
Al 96–98%

UBC is scrap from used aluminium beverage cans — one of the most recycled materials on earth. It is an excellent feedstock for rolling mills that produce new can sheet. Recycling aluminium cans uses only 5% of the energy needed to produce primary aluminium.

Typical Composition
Aluminium (Al) 97%

Zorba
Also known as: Mixed Non-Ferrous / Shredded Aluminium
Al 60–80%

Zorba is shredded mixed non-ferrous scrap that is primarily aluminium but contains zinc, lead, copper, and stainless steel. It is the output of auto shredder residue after ferrous metal removal. Requires further sorting/processing.

Typical Composition
Aluminium (Al) 70%
Zinc (Zn) 12%
Copper (Cu) 6%
Other Non-Ferrous 12%

Cast Aluminium
Also known as: Al-Si Cast Scrap / Engine Block Scrap
Al 85–92%

Cast aluminium scrap comes from engine blocks, transmission cases, cylinder heads, and other die-cast automotive or industrial components. It is a high-silicon alloy group (A380, ADC12) — ideal for die casting but not suited for rolling.

Typical Composition
Aluminium (Al) 89%
Silicon (Si) 8%
Copper (Cu) 2%

Aluminium Turnings
Also known as: Al Borings / Machining Chips
Al 90–96%

Aluminium turnings are the fine spiral or fragmented chips from CNC machining of aluminium components. They have good aluminium content but often carry cutting oil contamination, so they are sold at a discount to clean scrap.

Typical Composition
Aluminium (Al) 93%

Aluminium Wheel Scrap
Also known as: Al Alloy Wheel / A356 Scrap
Al 90–95%

Aluminium alloy wheel scrap comes from automotive alloy wheels, predominantly A356 (Al-Si7-Mg0.3) alloy. It is a valued grade for wheel re-manufacturing and casting due to its consistent, low-contamination chemistry.

Typical Composition
Aluminium (Al) 92%
Silicon (Si) 7%
Magnesium (Mg) 0.3%
